Beacon content overview with organic sessions, page count and cluster performance

Overview

About the project

Beacon is a concept product for content teams whose research lives in one spreadsheet, briefs in a doc, the publishing queue in a CMS and rankings in a third tool — so nobody can say what a published page actually did. It threads a page from the keyword that justified it through the brief, the draft and the live URL to its ranking and traffic, and keeps a technical health check running underneath so a page does not quietly fall out of the index.

The challenge

Content decisions are made in a spreadsheet, written in a doc, published in a CMS and measured in an analytics tool, with nothing connecting them. Six months later nobody can answer whether a page did what it was commissioned to do, so the same topics get re-commissioned and the pages that are working get no follow-up.

Our solution

We made the page the unit of work. A keyword cluster produces a brief, the brief produces a draft, the draft becomes a URL, and rank, traffic and conversions attach back to that same record. Technical health — indexation, internal links, Core Web Vitals — runs continuously against the live URL, so a page that drops out of the index raises a task rather than going unnoticed.

What we built

  1. 01Keyword clustersDemand grouped by intent rather than as a flat keyword list.
  2. 02Content briefsEach brief carries the cluster, the angle and the pages it must beat.
  3. 03Editorial pipelineCommissioned, drafting, review and published as one board.
  4. 04Rank trackingPosition and traffic attached to the page record, not a separate report.
  5. 05Technical healthIndexation, internal links and Core Web Vitals watched per URL.
  6. 06Content decayPages losing position flagged for a refresh before traffic goes.
  7. 07Mobile pipelineApprove a brief or check a ranking from a phone.
